Nokia 770 Internet Tablet Review
Nokia 770 Internet Tablet Review
Review written by TechipTV staff
The Nokia 770 offers portable web surfers a beautiful 4.1 inch color touch screen and a built in speaker. It weighs only 8.2 ounces and connects to the net by built in Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.
Browsing the web
We found in our tests that the 770 was a little slow at loading web pages however once a page is loaded the 770 displays them much better than a typical PDA. The 770 uses the new Opera 8 mobile web browser, which supports JavaScript, Flash and even plug-ins.
The 770 e-mail client allows you to download and view your mail by POP3 and IMAP4. It can be sorted into folders and you can set the 770 to automatically check for mail.
RSS
One of our favorite features of the 770 is that is not only a mobile web browser but you can also you it as an RSS reader. The Nokia 770 ‘s front page has an entire section devoted to your favorite feeds. Every time you turn it on it updates your feeds.
Audio
On the homepage of the 770 you can also list and play your favorite Internet audio streams. You can also use it to play back your own music stored on the 770 memory card. However you can’t play back WMA or protected AAC music. In our tests we had no problem playing mp3’s WAV’s and unprotected AAC music.
Video
The 770 can play MPEG-1, MPEG-4, Real Video and AVI’s. However it does not come with any software to convert your video to a format that works on the 770.
Battery life
We averaged 2 hours and 57 minutes of web browsing time, just 3 minutes short of Nokia’s reported 3 hours.
Overall
We found the Nokia 770 Internet Tablet to be and excellent portable web browser. Page loading times could have been faster but the large wide screen and built in Wi-Fi / Bluetooth make up for it.
TechipTV Labs rating 7.5/10
